Manchester United could be preparing an offer for Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico if their bid for Alex Telles fails. The FC Porto full-back is topping United’s wish list but it seems that the Portuguese club is not prepared to lower their €45m asking price. This could lead United to turn their attention to Argentina international Tagliafico, reports the Sun.
United are in the market of signing a new left-back as the club wants to add competition to their squad for Luke Shaw. Tagliafico has agreed with Ajax that he will be allowed to leave the club this summer and is available for a fee around €25m. The Argentinian has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Leicester City and Atletico Madrid in the past.
Meanwhile it has been reported that Ajax are preparing to offer Tagliafico a new contract to keep him in Amsterdam for a third consecutive season. The Dutch giants are hoping that the interest in Tagliafico will not result in an offer as they hope the left-back will stay. Tagliafico has played a 100 games for Ajax after he joined the club from Independiente in 2018.
