The UEFA has revealed the three nominees that will compete for 2019-20 Player of the Year. The footballing government of Europe have confirmed that Manchester City‘s Kevin de Bruyne and Bayern Munich stars Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski are the three finalists who could be walking away with the award.
As expected two players of the Champions League winners Bayern have been nominated. Lewandowski was the competitions top goal scorer and Neuer played an important role for the Germans in their title winning season. Bayern had a very successful 2019-20 season as the club won the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League.
The third nominee is Man City ace De Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder failed to win a trophy but he was nominated as the Premier League player of the year. De Bruyne did not only create the most opportunities of the league, he also managed to equal the assist record (22) set by Thierry Henry. The winner will be confirmed on October 1, before this term’s Champions League draw.
