If Antonio Rudiger decides to leave Chelsea this transfer window, the German has several elite clubs fighting for his signature. Earlier on FC Barcelona were linked with the central defender and it has now been claimed that Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma and Manchester City have also been added to the list of interested clubs.
Rudiger has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea this season and with the European Championship on its way the defender want to leave the Blues before the end of the transfer window. At this point PSG are considering an offer for Rudiger as he could be a low-cost option, while Roma have identified him as an alternative to Chris Smalling.
That leaves Barcelona and Man City. The two clubs are also in the market to a new defender, with the Spaniards wanting to sign City defender Eric Garcia. However, City is not ready to lower their €25m asking price and Barcelona lack the funds to go any higher than €15m. Meanwhile City have been trying to sign a new defender for weeks but have seen attempts to sign Napoli‘s Kalidou Koulibaly fail.
If City keep on failing their hunt for a new defender they could opt to make a move for Rudiger. Chelsea could be open to a loan deal and that could help the interested clubs finding a solution. The Blues do want to add an obligated buy-clause into a loan deal but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for the clubs mentioned earlier.
