Ole Gunnar Solskjaer slammed a reporter during his weekly press conference. It was suggested by a reporter that the Manchester United boss would be frustrated by the lack of transfer activity this summer. In a respons he said the question was disrespectful to Donny van de Beek. The Dutch midfielder was signed from Ajax in a deal worth around €40m.
Solskjaer did hope United would be able to sign three or four new players this summer, with the club targeting at least one winger. Up until the now Van de Beek is the only fresh face at United. “I think you show quite a bit of disrespect to Donny [van de Beek[ when you say he was the only one, because he is a top player and he strengthens our team and of course we have to concentrate on ourselves,” Solskjaer said.
“Different clubs have to be allowed to do whatever they do and feel they can. We are working hard to have a competitive squad and team. If and when there are updates we will give you them.” Van de Beek made his starting debut against Luton (3-0 win) on Tuesday and the former Ajax midfielder could be in line for his full Premier League debut against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
