FC Barcelona are ready to complete the transfer of Sergino Dest from Ajax, reports Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish club have reached an agreement with the Dutch giants after they met on Tuesday. The report claims that Ajax technical director Marc Overmars met with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the two have reached an agreement.
It is believed that Overmars, who is a former player of Barcelona, has made a big gesture to the Blaugranas. The Spanish club has financial struggles and wasn’t able to meet Ajax’s €25m asking price. However, Ajax have agreed to spread the payments for Dest over a period of five years and the Dutch club will receive an initial €5m this summer with the remaining €20m being spread.
This has given Barcelona the opportunity to invest in other players as well. An agreement between Spanish clubs over a financial support package states that a club must receive €20m in transfer fees to be able to spend €10m on the transfer market. After selling Nelson Semedo to Wolverhampton Wanderers for €40m last week, Barcelona were able to spend a total of €20m.
