Gareth Bale recently completed a shock return to Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid. ESPN have reported that the Wales international was actually expected to join Manchester United instead. However, the Red Devils stalled their offer for Bale as they told the 31-year-old that they wanted to try and complete a move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho first.
It has been claimed that Bale grew tired of waiting on United and then pushed for a move back to his former club in London. Tottenham weren’t considering a move for Bale as they expected that their former star would be too expensive to sign this summer. But with Madrid paying a large part of his wages, they decided to push through an offer.
Meanwhile, United are still looking to sign a new winger and they have not made any progress. It is believed that the club is still hoping to sign Sancho, but a transfer for the England international seems very unlikely at this moment. Dortmund have been clear in their demands and won’t accept anything less than €125m without bonuses or add-ons.
