Internazionale vice-president Javier Zanetti says he is very happy with the outcome of the Champions League group stage draw. The Italians have been drawn into a group alongside Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Monchengladbach. The Italians will start the campaign with a home game against the Bundesliga side.
“It’s a very balanced group, but I think we’ll have our say,” Zanetti told Sky Sport Italia. “We have to face every game aware of the difficulties and also with the belief in our capabilities and the ambition to do great things. It’s not just about Real Madrid, as the other two teams are also more than able to compete at this level. This is why we must be very concentrated in every single game.”
“The Champions League is a difficult tournament because so much depends on the form of your team at different moments of the competition. We hope to reach those moments in good shape.” The Champions League group stage will kick-off on October 20 and the final match will be played on December 9. Inter will start on October 21 with a home game and end the group stage with a home game against Shakhtar.
