Bayern Munich have confirmed that midfielder Mickael Cuisance has joined Olympique Marseille on a one-year loan deal. The French midfielder will be given the chance to gain first-team experience at the French club for the 2020-21 campaign. Marseille and Bayern completed the transfer of Bouna Sarr earlier on the day and this opened up the door for Cuisance.
Cuisance joined Bayern in 2019 from Borussia Mönchengladbach and the 21-year-old is considered as a big prospect. He has been struggling to find enough game time at the Allianz Arena and that has helped Bayern make the decision to allow him to join another club on loan. It has been reported that Marseille have also included a €20m option to sign Cuisance on a permanent deal next summer.
Last week the midfielder was close to completing a transfer to Leeds United. The English club thought it had reached an agreement with Bayern over the player but the deal collapsed for unclear reasons. The loan move to Marseille was initiated after Bayern opened talks to sign Sarr for a reported €10m. Bayern then agreed to allow Cuisance to move to the south of France, which helped them reach an agreement to sign Sarr.
