Bayern Munich are ready to complete the signing of former Paris Saint-Germain forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Goal report that the 31-year-old forward has been in talks with the German giants over a possible move and that an agreement is close. The Cameroon international is currently a free agent after he decided to leave PSG after the lost Champions League final.
The veteran striker signed for PSG two summers ago and acted mainly as cover for first Edinson Cavani and later Mauro Icardi. Throughout his career the former Stoke City forward has plenty of Bundesliga experiences. He developed through the youth academy at Hamburger SV and then also played for FSV Mainz, FC Nurnberg and Schalke 04. He has made 204 appearances in the Bundesliga.
Choupo-Moting will be signed as a back-up for top goal scorer Robert Lewandowski. That means that young Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee will be sent out on loan to gain more regular first-team action. The youngster has a lot of potential and Bayern are keen that the 19-year-old will develop his skills by playing regular football.
UPDATE: Bayern confirm one-year contract for Choupo-Moting
Bayern Munich have confirmed that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has signed a one-year contract with the club as he joins the club a free transfer. “It is an amazing feeling to be returning in the Bundesliga”, the forward said on the official website of Bayern. “Who doesn’t want to play for a club like Bayern? Here people expect you to win trophies and I am very motivated to achieve this.”
