Cristiano Ronaldo still is the best paid player in the Italian Serie A. La Gazzetta dello Sport published the wages of the players in the Serie A and the Juventus forward is by far the best paid player of the league. Ronaldo earns roughly €31m, which is four times more than the number two on the list: Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch youngster is the surprising number two on the list with €8m.
Other top earners in the Serie A are Romelu Lukaku (€7.5m), Christian Eriksen (€7.5m), while AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic earns €7m. Juventus is the club which spends the most on wages in Italy with a total of €236m even though the Bianconeri managed to lower their wage expenses by a rough €58m by saying their goodbye’s to Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Douglas Costa.
Number two on the list of big spending clubs is Internazionale, who spend €149m on player wages every year, followed by AS Roma, Napoli and AC Milan with respectively €112m, €105m and €90m. Atalanta Bergamo, who have been surprising friends and foes with their performances over the past two seasons spend €42.6m-per-year on player wages. Alejandro Gomez is the club’s top earner with €2m-per-year.
