Manchester City have joined Juventus in the hunt to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The young Norwegian has established himself as one of the best young forwards in Europe and he has been attracting the interest of the biggest possible clubs. City are preparing for life without Sergio Aguero and according to Don Ballon they have marked Haaland as the ideal striker.
Earlier reports from Germany have claimed that Haaland has a release clause in his contract worth €70m that will become active in the summer of 2022. However, City aren’t prepared to wait and would like to discuss terms with Dortmund next summer, hoping the Germans will settle for a €100m transfer fee.
The report also claims that City will face stiff competition from Juventus, but with the Italians signing Alvaro Morata this summer a move for Haaland in 2021 seems unlikely. Haaland has also been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Manchester United in recent months but both clubs seem to focus on other transfer targets. Real want Kylian Mbappe, United are hoping to sign Jadon Sancho.
