‘Such a shame Lewandowski has never played in the Serie A’

Italy will go head-to-head with Poland on Sunday in the Nations League. Head coach Roberto Mancini hopes his side will be able to make it two wins from three games after Italy beat Holland 1-0 last month. Mancini singles out star forward Robert Lewandowski as Poland’s best and most dangerous player.

“Lewandowski is one of the best centre-forwards in the world and he has been for several years. It’s a pity we never got to see him playing in Serie A,” Mancini said “He’s fundamental for Poland, although they also have other great players too. It’s fair to say any team would struggle against the likes of Lewandowski.”

Despite Poland having Lewandowski on their side, Mancini is expecting his side will be able to cope with his qualities. “Italy have always had some of the best defenders in the world and that remains true today. Of course, we can improve a great deal too.”
