With the current financial troubles at FC Barcelona, the Spanish club has to be inventive on the transfer market. The club is unable to spend large transfer fees and they have now made a plan to look for free agents next summer. That way they will only have to pay signing fees, which are much lower than the average transfer fee. The club has marked several targets.
Memphis Depay is topping the list and that is not a big surprise. The Dutch Olympique Lyon forward was already poised to join Barcelona this summer but they were unable to generate the funds needed to complete the transfer. Depay’s countryman Georginio Wijnaldum is also on the club’s wanted list. The Liverpool midfielder was also linked with Barcelona and the are now ready to use his expiring contract to sign him on a free transfer.
Number three in Barcelona’s wanted list is Bayern Munich defender David Alaba. The Austrian is in talks with the club over a new contract but a deal is still far off. Alaba is believed to be looking for a new adventure and it has been suggested that Barcelona would be very interested.
And the last player on the list is AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Barcelona are in talks with Marc-Andre ter Stegen for a new deal but are having troubles finding a deal. If they fail to reach an agreement, the German will possibly be sold with Donnarumma a leading candidate to replace him in goal.
