Luka Jovic was unable to answer a question on Real Madrid wanting to offload him this summer. The Serbian was questioned by a journalist from newspaper El Chiringuito and they quizzed the striker on the comments made by Borja Mayoral. The Spanish forward, who left Real to join AS Roma on a season-long loan claimed that Real actually wanted to offload Jovic instead of him.
Jovic was signed in the summer of 2019 by Madrid and he enjoyed an unimpressive first season at the club. It was then claimed that Zinedine Zidane wasn’t a big fan of Jovic and instructed his club to sell the striker during the summer. At the end the young Serbian stayed at Real, while Mayoral – who was reportedly preferred by Zidane – left the club on loan.
Asked by an El Chiringuito reporter if what Mayoral said was true, Jovic said, “Maybe. “You have to ask the club, not me,” when asked about his opinion of the situation. Jovic has a contract until the summer of 2024 at Madrid and he has mede two appearances for the club this season. He was given a spot on Zidane’s starting eleven against both Real Betis and Real Valladolid but was unable to find the net.
