Mesut Ozil is expected to be left out of Arsenal‘s Premier League squad until at least January, reports the Daily Mail. The Premier League clubs will have to submit their 25-man squad and Ozil’s name has been put forward as one that could be missing out on the first few months of the new season. The German was already left out of Arsenal’s Europa League squad.
Premier League clubs are allowed to submit 17 non-homegrown players on their 25-man squad list. Arsenal have 19 players in their squad who do not have the homegrown status. Ozil and Greek defender Sokratis are the most likely candidates to be axed from the 25-man squad as they suffered the same fate when the Gunners submitted their squad for the Europa League group stage.
Missing out on the Premier League squad list is yet another blow for Ozil, who could have already played his final game for Arsenal. The attacking midfielder has not featured for the Gunners since March and at this point he has been completely frozen out by Mikel Arteta. Ozil has missed out on every single Premier League squad this season and with him missing the cut, he will definitely not play for Arsenal until at least January.
