Thomas Tuchel has insisted that Neymar will be fit in time to face Manchester United in the Champions League next week. The Brazilian was left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad that faced Nimes on Friday (4-0) after a late return from international duty. Despite missing the Ligue 1 match, Tuchel expects Neymar back in the team for their mid-week match.
“Ney doesn’t have any issue. We talked together, like I did with Kylian,” the PSG coach said. “We had an honest discussion and I decided to let him rest today. He will be with us tomorrow. He will train and get ready for the game against Manchester United. He will be on the pitch, for sure.”
With Neymar out of the team, Kylian Mbappe stepped up as he scored two goals for PSG and Tuchel was full of praise. “It won’t be possible to do all the season what we did today. I talked with him [Mbappe] yesterday and we made this decision with responsibilities,” he said. “He said he was feeling well and he really wanted to play. He is a player who can make the difference. That’s what he did today. And it was great.”
