Pirlo not planning to back down after Crotone draw: ‘It’s a learning process’

Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo says he is not prepared to alter his tactics after the Bianconeri had a disappointing evening against Udinese. The Serie A champions weren’t able to win the match as they were held to a 1-1 draw. After the game Pirlo told reporters that his team is still under construction and they will need time to adjust to his style of play. New signing Alvaro Morata canceled out Simy’s opening penalty for Udinese.

“Unfortunately, we went down to 10 men in the last two games because of our errors, but we are a young team that needs to work and there hasn’t been much time for that with so many internationals,” Pirlo told DAZN. “Young players need to gain experience by playing in matches and it can happen that they make naive errors as part of the learning process.”

“We built a team with quality, but it is still a work in progress and needs time. The lads will learn through mistakes, unfortunately that also means taking a few risks in the early matches of the season.” He added: “We made a few mistakes in the timing of the press, but as I said, these things happen when we’re still getting the machine oiled.”

“We only really spent half-an-hour on this tactical movement in training yesterday, so it will improve. There are some positions to seek, Dejan Kulusevski can search for the right position based on the situation and naturally he likes to cut inside on to his favoured left foot. Arthur comes from Spanish football, so he tends to pass it short and slows the tempo. We’re working on it and he will adapt with time.”
