Borussia Dortmund director Hans Joachim Watzke has sent a clear message to clubs interested in signing Giovanni Reyna or Jude Bellingham. The two teenagers have been impressing at the German giants this season and they have already attracted the interest from several clubs outside of the Bundesliga. Watzke, however, insists that the talented duo will be at Dortmund for years to come.
“Bellingham and Reyna will certainly stay here for a long time,” Watzke told ZDF. “We have many young players with us who have a lot of potential. We’re currently forming an important axis. I don’t know whether this is the best squad we’ve had, but it’s the most ambitious. We have a great mix of both experienced and young talented players.”
Bellingham joined Dortmund from Birmingham City this summer and the 17-year-old has immediately established himself as a first-team player. The same goes for Reyna, who joined Dortmund a year earlier. The USA youth international scored his first Bundesliga goal for Dortmund last week and he has been compared with Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic in recent weeks.
