Manchester United are ready to use their excellent relationship with Sporting Portugal to land yet another Portuguese wonderkid. The 16-year-old Luis Gomes has appeared on the radar of United and the Red Devils are interested in making a move for the youngster soon. Mirror reports that United have already met with Sporting to talk about a potential deal for Gomes, who recently signed a five-year contract.
United now have the first option if Sporting decide to sell Gomes. The youngster signed his first professional contract last week and he has been hailed as the next Luis Figo at Sporting. The English giants have an excellent relationship with Sporting as they signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Bruno Fernandes in recent years.
The report claims that Atletico Madrid have also shown interest in the Sporting wonderkid but that he decided to sign a contract in Portugal instead. It has even been suggested that Gomes wants to follow the footsteps of Ronaldo and join Manchester within the next five seasons. Gomes joined Sporting in 2010 at the age of six and it is expected that he will be making his first-team debut in the 2020-21 campaign.
