Kylian Mbappe is still very reluctant to start talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible contract extension. The 22-year-old’s current deal will run out in the summer of 2022 and the French club are trying everything in their power to avoid selling him for a cut price next summer. Mbappe has been regularly linked with a move to Real Madrid and Liverpool in recent months.
Reports from France have now suggested that Mbappe has been avoiding talks with the club over a possible new contract as he is overthinking his short-term future. A transfer to Madrid looks to be the most likely next step for the forward but he is also aware that the Spanish club has been suffering a lot from the coronavirus pandemic and at this point it is uncertain if they are able to make an offer for him.
If Mbappe does decide to reject any offers from PSG, the French club is expected to sell him next summer as they want to avoid him leaving on a free transfer the next year. However, PSG also know that they could be asking a transfer fee around €180m to €200m for Mbappe as he still is one of the best forwards in the world. That fee could be too much for Real at this point and that has possibly alerted Liverpool again after the Reds thought they would not stand a chance against Madrid, which is Mbappe’s favourite club.
