Neymar has made a dramatic u-turn as the Brazilian super star wants to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain. The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the French giants for two years but now appears to be open for a new long-term contract with the club. Le Parisien reports that PSG are ready to start the talks but haven’t approached Neymar yet.
The forward was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 and was then linked with a move back to FC Barcelona in 2020. Neither moves were pushed through as Madrid signed Eden Hazard, while Barcelona weren’t able to generate the funds needed to sign Neymar due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
With the pandemic in mind, Neymar has come to the conclusion that staying with PSG might be the best option for him on the long-term. The French outlet states that Neymar is now happy to stay in Paris and it is even suggested he is unhappy with the club not taking any steps to offer him a new contract. The Brazilian’s contract will run out in the summer of 2022.
