Mauricio Pochettino has been put forward as a possible replacement for Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid if the Spanish club decides to part ways with the French manager. Real has enjoyed an inconsistent start to the season and suffered their first loss of the season to Cadiz at the weekend. Don Balon report that Madrid are already lining up possible replacements if Zidane fails to turn their fortunes around.
Zidane returned to Madrid in 2019 after he decided to part ways with the club in 2018. In his first full season with the club he reclaimed the Spanish league title but failed to progress his side beyond the round of 16 in the Champions League. While Zidane has earned a lot of credits with the Real board after winning three consecutive Champions Leagues, they could decide to end their partnership if the inconsistent start is not improved.
And according to the report by Don Ballon, Pochettino is considered to be the leading favourite should Madrid deze to sack Zidane. The Argentinian has been linked with the job at Real on several occasions and he is keen on returning to football management after he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur at the end of 2019 after a poor start to the 2019-20 campaign.
