Manchester United have interest in Internazionale striker Lautaro Martinez, according to Don Balon. The Argentinian striker has been heavily linked with a move away from Internazionale in recent months with FC Barcelona being put forward as the most likely destination for the striker. United, however, feel that they might be able to hi-jack the deal next summer.
At this point Inter are ready to open talks with Martinez and his management to extend his current contract with an additional two seasons while increasing his wages to the level of the club’s top earner Romelu Lukaku which is €7.5m-a-year. Inter are hoping to sign Martinez on a new deal before the end of November, also because the club want to take out the €111m release clause in his contract.
But even without the fixed transfer fee United are confident they will be able to battle Barcelona to sign Martinez next summer. Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho will still be their top priority transfer target next summer but adding a class striker like Martinez would also be an interesting option for United. Both clubs are expected to land bids around €90m for the forward.
