Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be able to play for AC Milan in the Europa League against Celtic, insists his coach Stefano Pioli. The veteran striker has reached the respectable age of 39 and it has often been suggested that is not able to play three matches a week anymore. Pioli, however, insists that Ibrahimovic is fit and is able to cope with the packed fixture list as Milan will play four matches in ten days.
Over the weekend Ibrahimovic showed class is permanent by scoring two goals for Milan in the derby against Internazionale. The Swede scored both Milan goals as he helped them grab a deserved 2-1 win. “Zlatan is fine and so are his team-mates,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia . “I think the team is fine, because it’s more the head that commands the legs.”
“The derby has taken away a lot of mental energy more than physical, as always happens in this period. We will have a block of three weeks where we will play seven times and they will be close and very competitive matches, but I will certainly field the best side on Thursday.” After they have played Celtic in the Europa League, Milan will AS Roma on Monday before facing Sparta Prague on Thursday.
