Paul Pogba - France

Man United will not break their banks to extend Pogba contract

Manchester United hope to extend the contract of Paul Pogba within the next few months after they already triggered the option to extend his current deal with one extra season until the summer of 2022. According to ESPN, United have made contact with Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, and they have told him they will not be offering a massive pay rise to keep him at Old Trafford.

After the club finally offloaded Alexis Sanchez of their wage bill, the Red Devils are adamant of keeping their wage expenses at a minimum. The Chilean forward earned a smashing €450.000-a-week at United and Sanchez never managed to fulfill his potential at the club. The forward signed for Italian giants Internazionale on a free transfer this summer.

United are very adamant of avoiding a ‘second Sanchez’ and have told Pogba they are not planning to offer him a massive wage boost if he signs a new contract. The news from Manchester could have alerted interested clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus who are all keen on signing Pogba and they could use United’s stance as an advantage to lure Pogba away from Old Trafford.
