Luka Jovic could be in trouble in his home nation Serbia. A report by Tanjug claims that the Real Madrid forward could face a six-month prison sentence after he broke the coronavirus rules in March, when he traveled to Serbia to spend time with his family while the rest of the Madrid squad was quarantined at their homes in Spain.
The Serbian prosecutor’s office claim that Jovic didn’t comply with the required health protocol upon his arrival. The prosecutor will now have to present the case to a judge in Serbia, who then has to confirm that the case will be examined. It is believed that this will be completed on Friday.
If Jovic actually has to go to prison is unclear but it is expected that the Serbian international will be able to buy off his sentence with a hefty fine. The report also claims that Jovic has already paid a fine around €30.000 and that has reportedly helped lower the accusation and the requested punishment by the Serbian prosecutor.
