Turkish giants Fenerbahce are currently monitoring the situation of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal and the Super Lig club could be tempted to make an offer in January. Ozil has been frozen out at the Gunners and will not play a match until at least February after he was omitted from both the Premier League and Europa League squads by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
In recent weeks the German midfielder has been linked with several moves, including one to the Major League Soccer. However, reports from Turkey and Germany claim that the former World Cup winner wants to stay in Europe and would be very interested in signing for a club in Istanbul. Fenerbahce have been put forward as a possible new club for Ozil and it seems the Turkish club hasn’t forgotten about Ozil.
Fenerbahce have been experiencing a rough couple of seasons, finishing out of the top five of the Super League in bot the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. The club is looking to rebuild their squad and they hope Ozil wants to take up the role as the team leader to help them return to the top of Turkish football. If Arsenal would be willing to grant Ozil a free transfer in January, Fenerbahce will be making an offer.
