Manchester City could be without Sergio Aguero for up to a month as the striker has suffered a new injury. The 32-year-old Argentinian played his third match of the 2020-21 season this weekend against West Ham United but was forced off the pitch with a muscle injury. Pep Guardiola confirmed that Aguero will miss the clash with Olympique Marseille in the Champions League but could be out for longer.
Asked on how long Aguero will be out, Guardiola said: “It depends on the injury. When it is minimum it will be 10-15 days. If it is longer it will be three weeks to a month. I don’t know. When you are four or five months out (with) knee problems, always you have a risk when you come back. We tried to handle it as well as possible, just 50-55 minutes a game, but it was not enough to get fit for the next games. He will be back as soon as possible.”
The injury to Aguero is yet another blow to Man City as the Premier League giants are trying to reclaim the title from Liverpool. The club is having a lot of injury problems this season with star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne already missing several games, while Gabriel Jesus has only made one Premier League appearance so far this season due to a knee injury.
