Bayern Munich have confirmed on Monday that Niklas Sule has been tested positive on the coronavirus. The Germany international has moved into self-isolation and will not be able to play for Bayern in their midweek Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg and the highly anticipated match against Borussia Dortmund next week.
In a short statement on their official website Bayern confirmed that the defender was tested positive at their weekly coronavirus test on Monday. They also confirmed that the 25-year-old is feeling good and showing mild symptoms of the virus. The statement read: “Niklas Sule has tested positive for COVID-19. The defender of FC Bayern Munich is in quarantine at home, he is fine.”
Sule will not only miss two games for Bayern, but he is also expected to miss out on the next international matches for Germany. The European giants will play Czech Republic next week in a friendly on Wednesday, before playing their final two games in the A Group of the UEFA Nations League against Ukraine (14.11) and Spain (17.11).
