Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Renato Sanches from OSC Lille, reports Calcio Mercato. The 23-year-old midfielder has re-invented himself after several troubled seasons playing for Bayern Munich. Wolves could be prepared to offer the Portugal international a return to the Premier League after he already enjoyed an unsuccessful spell on loan at Swansea City.
Sanchez made his professional debut at the age of 16 for Benfica and was immediately regarded as one of the best young midfielders of his generation. Several years later he starred for Portugal at EURO2016, helping Portugal to win their first ever European Championship. That performance earned him a massive transfer to Bayern Munich.
He failed to live up to the expectations at Bayern and he was sent on loan to Swansea. That did not work out for him and he returned to the German club. In the summer of 2019 he left Bayern and signed for Lille. In France he has been able to recover his form and he has been showing glimpse of his potential at times. He has a contract until the summer of 2023 and Lille would be asking a hefty transfer fee for his departure.
