France captain Hugo Lloris has backed Paul Pogba for finding back his best form after the Manchester United midfielder received loads of criticism on his current form. The 27-year-old has not enjoyed the best start to a football season of his career and his drop in form has even seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer drop him from his starting eleven. Lloris says Pogba has the qualities to ‘raise his level’.
“He lacks a bit of rhythm, compared to his situation at his club. Like [Raphael] Varane or [Antoine] Griezmann, he comes with a smile,” the Spurs captain told a press conference ahead of the match between France and Portugal. “We see him ready to meet the challenges, the jersey of Les Bleus is close to his heart.”
“He is one of the leaders of this team. He has a long history [with the national team] and also knows how to raise his level when necessary, especially when there is adversity. Tomorrow (Saturday), he will be keen to do well.” Despite his poor form Pogba was granted a position on France’s starting eleven that will face Portugal in the Nations League.
