Borussia Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl has confidence that star player Jadon Sancho will overcome his current dip in form. The England international enjoyed a stellar 2019-20 campaign with 17 goals and 16 assists and much was expected from the youngster this season. In the 2020-21 season Sancho is still looking for his first Bundesliga goal and some have suggested that the transfer rumours have affected the England international. Kehl doesn’t believe these had any affect on Sancho.
“Jadon is perhaps lacking a little fluency right now,” Kehl expanded upon to Kicker. “His natural game is only partially recognizable at the moment. But this is only a temporary phenomenon, one that will soon vanish into thin air. It is not a distraction brought on by United’s interest. We will have to go through this together. Jadon doesn’t care [about speculation]. We know that he is working on it.”
Sancho has been at Dortmund since 2017 and after his impressive season the forward was heavily linked back with a move to the Premier League. Manchester United are the leading favourites to sign Sancho, despite the Red Devils failing to meet the demands of Dortmund. The Germans have made clear they want to receive €120m for Sancho and that they are not prepared to negotiate these terms.
