Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has won the 2020 Golden Boy award. The 20-year-old Norwegian striker is on the front page of Tuttosport, the Italian newspaper that holds the yearly award for the best talent in the world. Haaland is the successor of Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, who won the award in 2019.
The Golden Boy is an award for the best player under the age of 21 and in the past big players like Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi have won the award. And now Haaland is the winner, beating the likes of Dortmund team-mate Jadon Sancho, Bayern Munich‘s Alphonso Davies, Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and Barcelona sensation Ansu Fati to the award.
Haaland, who joined Dortmund in January from Red Bull Salzburg, scored 44 goals across all competitions in 2019-20. After his move to the German giants Haaland managed to score 16 goals in 18 appearances. This season the powerhouse has continued his goal scoring streak at Dortmund as he already has scored six goals in six Bundesliga appearances.
