Arsenal defender William Saliba is unhappy with his lack of playing time, ESPN reports. The French defender arrived in London this summer after he was already signed from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019. Much was expected from Saliba, who has often been compared with Juventus wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt. However, Saliba has not been seeing much action at the Gunners this season and he is now reportedly looking to move clubs in January.
His former club Saint-Etienne already hoped they would be able to sign Saliba back on loan during the summer. Mikel Arteta, however, wanted to keep Saliba in London as he promised the young defender to be included in the first-team squad. Several months into the new season Saliba has not made a single appearances in the Premier League.
The report by ESPN claims that Saliba is unhappy with his role at Arsenal and sources around the player have confirmed he is looking to move clubs in January. There are several clubs interested in signing Saliba on loan, including his former club Saint-Etienne and struggling OGC Nice. There is also some interest from the Championship, with Watford, Norwich City and Brentford interested.
