Internazionale are looking to sign a long-term replacement for Lautaro Martinez, Sky Italia have reported. The Argentinian could be sold next summer as the forward is reluctant to sign a new contract without a release clause. Inter have gradually accepted that they will be losing Martinez at some point and have already started the search for a new striker.
And according to the report from Italy Inter have marked 19-year-old Marco Paulo as an ideal replacement. The young striker currently plays for Fluminense in Brazil and has an expiring contract. That means Inter will be able to sign him on a free transfer in January. Paulo has been linked with moves to Italy in recent months with Parma and Torino interested in the talented striker.
Paulo is extra interesting for Inter as he also has a Portuguese passport, which means the Italians will not have to use one of their non-EU spots for the young striker. He has also been capped at Portugal on both U19 and U19 level, scoring four goals in seven appearances. Paulo is reportedly keen on continuing his career in Europe to increase his chances with the Portugal senior team ahead of the European Championship.
