Paul Pogba has said he and his teammates at Manchester United must become ‘sore losers’ to keep demanding the best from themselves during the season. After an inconsistent start to the season United have been gradually fighting their way back to the top of the Premier League and with one game in hand they are only five points behind league leaders Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
Pogba, who helped his side claim a 3-1 win over West Ham United during the weekend, says holding a winning mentality will be key for his club. “It has to be inside. I mean, always. We cannot afford to lose and be happy with a loss or a draw”, Pogba told MUTV on Sunday. “We have to be bad losers – that’s what we have to be – and always want to win. Even 1-0 or 6-5, we have to win. That’s what we want.”
United will now be entering a crucial week as they will play RB Leipzig in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier League. “For sure, we have two big games coming up. We know that those are two very important games, decisive games. We have to carry on this mentality of winning, always. That’s what the club is about and we want to carry on this and what we did in the second half [against West Ham].”
