A boost for Real Madrid as captain and talisman Sergio Ramos has returned to full fitness to face Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League this week. Real need a good result against the Germans to progress into the next phase of the tournament and the return of their captain couldn’t have come at a better time. Ramos has been included in the squad by Zinedine Zidane.
Ramos returned to full-training last week, but was still left out for Real’s trip to Sevilla during the weekend. While his teammates recorded a small 1-0 win in Seville, Ramos worked on his fitness levels back in Madrid. He is now in line to return to the squad to face the Germans and it is expected that he will be in Zidane’s starting eleven.
Ramos will be replacing Nacho Fernandez alongside Raphael Varane in the heart of defense and will be playing along side Ferland Mendy and Lucas Vazquez, who is still replacing the injured Dani Carvajal. Eden Hazard and Mariano Diaz will also miss the match against Gladbach as both players are still suffering from minor knocks.
