Borussia Dortmund have marked PSV star Donyell Malen as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho, according to Sport Bild. It is still expected that Sancho will be leaving Dortmund next summer as Manchester United are still interested despite failing to sign the England international during the summer. Dortmund have now marked Malen as a potential target to replace Sancho next season.
The now 21-year-old Malen joined PSV from Arsenal in 2017 and in recent seasons the forward has developed into one of the leading forwards in the Eredivisie. This season the four time Netherlands international has made 18 appearances and has scored twelve goals for PSV. His contract runs until the summer of 2024 and PSV are looking for a reported €50m transfer fee.
This fee would not be a problem for Dortmund if they manage to sell Sancho next summer. The club is demanding a €125m transfer fee and are not prepared to lower their demands. United did make several approaches for Sancho during the summer, offering Dortmund a fixed price plus several variable bonuses. Dortmund rejected these offers as they want the transfer fee paid in full.
