Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed that Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi could be back on the team within a week after the duo missed Chelsea’s Champions League draw with Kuban Krasnodar. Lampard told reporters that the duo have been undergoing medical tests over the past couple of days and that he expects to have them both back sooner than first feared.
“Both players are hopefully going to be fit for a week on Wednesday,” Lampard told a post-match media conference. “They had scans which are showing the injuries will be two weeks, so that’s positive, particularly with Hakim. With Callum we didn’t know what to expect when he got injured in training a couple of days ago.”
Despite the 1-1 draw against Krasnodar, Chelsea secured top spot in their group. A win against the Russians would have given them their highest ever points total in a single Champions League group stage. However, an early goal by Remy Cabella and a converted penalty by Jorginho kept the Blues from reaching their milestone.
