Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho admits Dele Alli is unhappy after he was left on the bench for their 2-0 Europa League win over Royal Antwerp. The European tournament usually is a possibility for Mourinho to allow fringe players to show their qualities, but that wasn’t the case for Alli. He was left on the bench and then did not join the rest of the team in a post-match warm-down.
Mourinho revealed Alli was given the green light to skip the warm-down. “Yep, but let’s not run away from the reality. A player that is on the bench and then realises that he’s not one of the five players (coming on) of course is not a happy player, and I wouldn’t expect him to be happy. But every player that is on the bench or every player that leaves the pitch in cold weather, with me, they can go to the dressing room and I even prefer if that happens.”
Under Mourinho Alli has been dropped from the first-team. The English attacking midfielder had a week second half of the 2019-20 season and this convinced Mourinho to drop him from the team. During the summer Alli was linked with a move away from the club with Paris Saint-Germain interested in signing him on loan. However, Alli stayed in London but is expected to move away from the club if his situation doesn’t change.
