Lionel Messi will not be making his Paris Saint-Germain home debut this weekend, reports Sport. The Argentinian forward was expected to return to France on Saturday but it appears that Messi will not be returning to Europe before Sunday. Argentina’s international break was disrupted by the suspension of their Brazil game, forcing the players to return later than expected.
The game against Brazil was eventually postponed after officials entered the pitch forcing four players to be removed off the pitch due to COVID-19 regulations. Emiliano Martínez and Emi Buendía and Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso were all taken off the pitch and were then forced to leave Brazil on a plane. The four players are all contracted by English clubs.
The game between the two South American rivals was then postponed and eventually cancelled. Argentina will now play Bolivia on Friday (European time) and the players will then fly back to Europe once the game is over. PSG will play Clermont on Saturday afternoon (1700 CET) but the Parisians will be without their new talisman and midfielder Angel Di Maria.
