Former Arsenal star and current Ajax director of Football Marc Overmars is not interested in a move to the Gunners to replace Edu. The Brazilian has received a lot of criticism lately for his signings since he became director of football in London and Overmars has been forward as the ideal candidate to lead Arsenal back into the top four of the Premier League.
Overmars has a wide range of experience as a director of football at Ajax and he has been held responsible to be one of the leading figures behind the Dutch club’s current success. Reports from England and fans on social media have been pointing towards Overmars to make a return to London, but the former Dutch international says he is happy where he is.
“I’ve been offered the opportunity to go elsewhere and I’m not getting any younger,” he told Ajax TV. “That’s what happens and it’s always good to consider a move. But then I just think about how well things are going here. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If your old shoes are still comfy, keep wearing them.” Overmars has been at Ajax since 2012.
