While Chelsea weren’t too happy with Sevilla‘s stance in the speculated transfer of Jules Kounde, the Blues are ready to return for the France international in January. Chelsea were keen on signing Kounde during the final week of the summer window, but faced a stiff Sevilla, who dug their heels in and refused to negotiate a transfer for any fee below his €80m release clause.
According to ESPN, Sevilla agreed terms with Chelsea earlier during the window, but then shifted their stance after Kurt Zouma was sold to West Ham United for a reported €25m transfer fee. After the transfer of Zouma was confirmed, Sevilla told Chelsea they wanted the full release clause paid for Kounde, leaving Chelsea feeling ‘bemused’.
Kounde, meanwhile, is still keen on joining Stamford Bridge and hopes that both clubs will reach an agreement in either January or next summer. Reports from England have stated that Chelsea are currently preparing a new and fresh transfer offer for the young defender, but that they are still not prepared to sell Kounde for anything lower than his €80m release clause.
